Support Avian Pest Control Services Continuing Education Courses
WFA is pleased to offer two free California Continuing Education Courses about supporting avian pest control. The courses will be available through December 31, 2024.
These courses are approved for credit through the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. Anyone is welcome to take the courses, but only those in California can receive credits.
Participants will learn about research that shows the benefits of installing habitat in and around farms to attract beneficial birds that provide valuable pest control services.
Participants will gain knowledge on research describing the farm benefits of installing songbird nest boxes, Barn Owl and American Kestrel boxes, and songbird and raptor perches to gain these birds’ valuable pest control services.
Click the links above to begin the courses. They can be taken at your leisure over several days or weeks as needed. Course progress is tracked by your email address. If you leave and come back into the system using the same email address, you can pick up where you left off. Make sure your email address is spelled correctly when you enter the first time so you don't lose your progress.
The course is divided up into hour-long segments with several video lessons and a five question quiz in each hour. There is also a final ten question quiz at the end of the course. You must get at least 70% correct in each quiz to pass. You may re-take a quiz if you do not pass on the first try.
Please note: After completing a course, you will be directed to a certificate of completion. You must submit the certificate to the California Department of Pesticide Regulation to receive your credits. These two courses are approved for the “Other” category and would count towards the total “Other” hours needed for the QAL license renewal.
