Join us to learn from researchers who are studying birds and their prey in California vineyards.
Speakers: Eleanor MacDonald, Grad Student, Cal Poly Humboldt and Dr. Matt Johnson, Cal Poly Humboldt
Eleanor and Matt will share results of their research evaluating avian-pest interactions and ecosystem services in vineyards. You'll hear how installing nest boxes boosted bluebird, swallow, and Barn Owl populations in vineyards – and how these birds, in turn, influenced rodent and insect pests and beneficial insects. Researchers will also share key insights into the factors that shape how effectively birds help suppress vineyard pests.
We are offering 1 Continuing Education credit through Department of Pesticide Regulation and 1 CCA credit through American Society of Agronomy.
