Join LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards and Wild Farm Alliance (WFA) out in the field! The event will feature talks, demonstrations at four different stations on the vineyard and a farmer/farm manager panel.
Speakers and Topics Include:
- Stephen Pryor and Jo Ann Baumgartner, WFA, will discuss the importance of native habitat to support natural enemy insects and birds for pest control.
- Nick Filannino, WFA, and Sam Earnshaw, Hedgerows Unlimited, will share the planning and implementation of a newly planted hedgerow on the farm as part of the Pollinator Habitat Program funded by CDFA.
- Michael Dunn and Apprentice Sophia Carte, PJ Dunn Working Red Worms, will discuss vermiculture and the value of worm castings and compost teas for plant health, growth and resiliency. There will also be a live demonstration brewing aerobic compost tea.
- Breanna Martinico, UC Cooperative Extension, will detail how to successfully install and maintain nestboxes to attract beneficial birds for pest control.
- Maria Zumkeller, Lange Farming, will discuss their regenerative vineyard planning efforts, including what defines a vineyard as regenerative, what the vineyard will look like, the steps they are taking, and the practicality of each of the practices from a large to small.
- Stephanie Bolton, Lodi Woodbridge, will cover LODI RULES, California's original sustainable viticulture program for Sustainable Wine growing.
- A farmer/manager panel will discuss experiences with installing and maintaining natural enemy habitat, including how the farmers funded the implementation and the benefits they are realizing.

During lunch, a short award ceremony will recognize LangeTwins Winery for their California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance 2024 California Green Medal Leader Award.
Continuing Education Credits: We are offering 1.5 CE credits in the "other" category through the California Department of Pesticide Regulation for this event. Please bring your license number with you to receive a certificate of completion at the end of the event. We have also been approved for 2.5 CCA credits (Nutrient Management CEUs: 0.5, Integrated Pest Management CEUs: 1, Sustainability CEUs: 1).
